Rule of thirds: Rule of thirds is when one-third of the picture is the main focus and the rest of the image is plain.
Diagonal: Diagonal composition is when you capture an image and the focus point is on the diagonal lines showing its strength and stability.
As I was capturing photos for this assignment I found that it was a lot easier to capture images for the rule of thirds and diagonal. When it came to finding a place that follows the "triangle" rule it was a lot more challenging. Out of the three, I think my favorite was the rule of thirds because instead of capturing a full frame of the eye catching item you would just focus on capturing a small portion of it. What I found most challenging while using the triangle rule was that not many things contained a triangle until you looked very deeply. I think it was good that we were forced to look deeper into the images to find the triangles. I really enjoyed looking for diagonals in images because some were very easy to find such as on roof lines where as others you needed to look further to find.
I really like your diagonal photos, as there is a not an obvious line to look at, but when you see it, it's hard to not look at the lines. I think your triangle pictures could be worked on because it is hard to see the triangles, especially in the first one.
ReplyDeleteI liked your rule of thirds section because you took these photos in a variety of different ways. The only suggestion I have would be to is to work on really finding a triangle shape when taking triangle photos because I think in the photos you took, it was not quite obvious. Other than that, I think you did a great job on this composition
ReplyDeleteI think your diagonal pictures were your strongest. The other ones are really good, but I think they could show the rules of composition a little more clearly. Also, some of the editing could be adjusted to be a little less extreme (saturation and contrast, mostly).
ReplyDeleteI really liked your diagonal compositions. I think you incorporated a lot of different kinds of photos which helped identify which part of the photo was diagonal. I think you best work was the diagonal section because you edited these photos the best. Over all I think you did a very good job.
ReplyDeleteI like your photos, but I can't really tell which photos are for which concept, so I can't really have a big comment, maybe have more obvious of a title?
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are so beautiful. You capture the essence of each subject perfectly. You did really well on the rule of thirds and diagonals but I think you could work on emphasing and focusing on certain triangles because those photos are kinda busy so I don't know where I should be looking for them. Other than awesome job!
ReplyDeleteI think you did an overall great job on all of your photos. I especially like your diagonal photos because I was able to detect a clear diagonal in each one. It looks as though you tilted the camera to take the diagonal photos, which I think helped make the diagonal seem as clear as possible. I think that your Rule of Thirds photos can have a stronger subject, with a more plain background in order to emphasize the main subject but overall, fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteThe final picture of the triangle series is really fantastic because of all the different textures you incorporated. I agree with everyone else's comments in that you need to more clearly show what composition technique you are using. For example, with the rule of thirds, I am not sure which part of the image is the subject because you combined so many different objects, therefore I can not identify which third of the photo is what I should focus on.
ReplyDeleteI like how some of your photos are in black and white while some are in color, it gives them a nice contrast
