Fall Series #1

My visual recipe was I needed to find a model, then dress them in different outfits,  and then find a background which was sometimes a blank wall and other times it was something more elaborate. All my photos are in black and white because that is what John French did. John French's models used props such as bags, jewelry, and cigarettes. I used bags as props and the mood was fun. My genre was fashion through portraits. One of my biggest goals throughout this process was to make sure the models were having fun with this as well as making sure my photos were posed because that's what John French did.

Portraits

The portraits I chose to use were of Lakpa and Sophie. Behind the scenes of the camera, I talked to them about random things to see how they would react. These photos were their reactions to the random things we were talking about. Richard Avedon who was our inspiration for this assignment would stand there watching his model and pretend to take photos of them posing, however, he would actually wait until they "took off" their mask and saw the real them. During Avedon's movie, I saw how his work evolved over the years and furthered not only his career but his understanding of how to capture the "perfect" photo.
